Hullo, Mates

Hello.

This is going to be my travel blog for my time in England. I figured that a title based on Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court would be fairly appropriate. I considered calling it something like "A Sagehen in London" but that seemed
too...obvious? I don't know. I really enjoyed Mark Twain's book and it had some poignant lessons. Like, trying to change things in a foreign country is generally inadvisable. Since the Yankee's attempt to change the England of King Arthur's time just led to crazy war and death and destruction, I guess I can back off on the weird faucet issue. I have been informed (yay study abroad office!) that the English use some strange, separ
ate hot and cold faucets, but that we're not in another country to change things, we're here to learn. Alas. :P Also, STDs totally work the same everywhere else as they do here. Damn.

Anyways, getting ready for England at this point has mainly included super lazy shopping and obsessively watching Dr. Who--starting with Season 1 of the newer series. I really wish I had access to the older episodes, classic sci-fi is freaking brilliant. The special effects...I love them so much. The dialogue, the costumes, everything. Awesome. Unfortunately, I lack internet skillz so finding and watching stuff online is difficult. It's cool though, enjoying home is good enough. :) The insane amount of snow has made everything absolutely beautiful. I loves me the wintertime and it's looking like I might get me some sweet gu
ns out of shoveling daily. As a duck might say, aw yiss (if you don't read Hark A Vagrant then shame on you). There is a 98% chance that I will be skating outside today, although the pond ice is a bit choppy this year, unfortunately. I think it's time we invest in a zamboni. Which I'd get to drive. Everywhere.

By the way, this is what I wake up to every morning. :) I'm so damn lucky.
So, here it is. Come Jan. 4th I will be in London, hopefully finding my way to my living quarters (*crosses fingers*). I have directional difficulties so this adventure will definitely be a challenge. But I am crazy excited! Like, bordering on mental instability excited, which is always fun.

I will probably be posting again before I leave. Maybe. We'll see if I feel like it. No promises.

Welp, it's been lovely!
